Argentina is set to become the first country to launch an active network, as the country’s public-private network Nfhs is expected to be rolled out over the next three months.
A joint venture between Argentina’s Public Service Networks (PSN) and the Nfh Foundation, the Argentine public-to-private Nfhl network will allow residents of Argentina’s provinces and municipalities to use their smartphones to access the local government network, the countrys Public Service Network (PSNP).
“It’s an exciting time to be in Argentina.
Our government is taking a serious step forward,” Argentine Prime Minister Mauricio Macri said at a ceremony in Buenos Aires on Tuesday.
“This is an important step in creating a new network in the country.”
The announcement comes after Argentina’s government announced a network of more than 1,000 mobile hotspots, with an estimated 500,000 users by the end of this year.
“The aim is to establish a national network of at least 1,500 mobile hotspot networks,” said PSNP’s Executive Director, Federico Mello.
“The aim for this network is to provide citizens and residents with a seamless and easy access to their daily lives, while enabling them to connect to public services in the public interest.”
“The network will be operated by private companies, such as Google, and will have access to the public telecommunications networks in Argentina,” he said.
The network of 1,600 hotspots is expected be operational in Argentina by the summer of 2018.
