The PlayStation Network has surpassed the 1.8 million mark, according to data from market researcher marketresearch.com.
The figure is a little surprising, since PlayStation’s numbers for the PlayStation Network are generally considered to be much lower than the 1 million mark.
But marketresearch said that while PSN’s subscriber base has steadily declined over the years, the number of subscribers on the service has been increasing.
“PSN now has a monthly total of 1.79 million, which is slightly above the previous month’s figure of 1,791,000,” the marketresearch report says.
“However, PSN has remained the only way for players to play their games on PS4, with over 1.3 million players currently using the platform.
PSN now accounts for more than 1.6% of total PS4-player growth.”
The market research report also says that the PlayStation 4 is now the top selling console in the U.S. with a monthly active user count of 6.4 million.
PS4 revenue has grown significantly from $2.2 billion to $4.2 bn.
PS3 sales have grown from $9.5 bn to $22.5 billion.
PS Vita sales have also grown from approximately $15.3 bn in 2013 to $41.3 billion.
While the PlayStation 5 was announced on November 3, 2015, the PlayStation Now service launched on December 4, 2015.
While PlayStation Now is essentially the same service as PSN, it has more in common with the Google Chromecast service, which lets you stream video to your TV and then play it on the go.
Google has said that its service will launch sometime in early 2017.
